We love family, tradition and food — really, really good food!
Our family background includes Italian and Greek……and a good dose of perfectionism!
So, when I (Lori) married my husband, Dan, I was brought into a family that loved to eat — Italian and Greek food! I grew up in Kansas, with many rich “food traditions,” but my husband’s way of eating was foreign to me. So, I started learning.
This was more challenging than I knew! Have you ever tried to coax a recipe out of an Italian grandma!? It just doesn’t work! Eventually, we figured out that watching and taking notes was our best option. Then came the practicing and perfecting!
That was many years ago and we are so grateful to have been able to learn from Dan’s mom, Dee, and his 4 sisters.
In 2019, our daughter needed to raise money for a missions trip to Ecuador. What better way to do that than to sell the specialty desserts we had been making for years!
We had moved from the East Coast back to Kansas, where I grew up. Baklava & Biscotti were not common desserts here, so it was a real treat to share this with others.
Working with my daughter and husband to raise money for her trip was more fun than I had imagined! Once her mission’s money was raised, I didn’t want to stop! So, I kept on baking. I began to sell Baklava & Biscotti during the holidays, and soon I was receiving requests year-round, and loving it!
Honey-drenched Baklava is a treat that we (still!) love; and inventing new, over-the-top Biscotti flavors is just downright FUN! We have kept the traditional, and added delightful, fun flavors. Try them all, and keep checking back, there’s always something new!
We love our “La Dolce Vita,” our Sweet Life in Kansas and are honored to share a part of it with you!
